Dear Cloverdale Parents
& Guardians,
It is with great
enthusiasm and excitement that we finish the first trimester of instruction at
Cloverdale School. This year began in the spirit of celebration
as we learned of the excellent growth made in student learning last year. This momentum continues as our amazing
teachers have dedicated themselves to establishing grade level goals in the
areas of Reading, Writing, and Math. We
have focused our efforts at guaranteeing that every child meets these goals this
year. To accomplish this, we have taken
a number of critical steps.
· Cloverdale teachers meet
weekly in grade level teams to discuss student progress.
· Our School Site Council
has approved funds that will support flexible small group instruction, full day
collaborations for staff, and the purchase of supplemental materials needed to
ensure all students learn.
· With support from our
Educational Services division, a team from Cloverdale recently attended a
conference highlighting the best intervention systems currently within
Riverside County.
· Under the direction of
our First Grade Team, the Parent Academy has already demonstrated great results
in helping students master basic reading skills.
I am also pleased to
report that we have made great progress this trimester to ensure all students
have a safe, supportive, and fun school environment in which to learn. All members of our school community have
dedicated themselves to making sure our students understand and practice six
essential Life Skills:
Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Trustworthiness, Fairness,
and Citizenship
These Life Skills were
clearly on display at our recent Harvest Festival, which was organized by the
tireless efforts of our energized PTA under the leadership of our PTA
president, Mrs. McCabe. Additionally,
our English Language Learners are benefiting from the record participation in
our English Learner Advisory Committee under the leadership of our ELAC
president Mrs. Ruelas. We are also
grateful for the extraordinary support our school has received from our
community partners. One partner, Taylor
Martial Arts, has been very active in creating our On Time Champions program
which rewards students on a monthly basis who come to school on time each and
every day.
Indeed, it has been a
very busy trimester, but we know this hard work early on will continue to
support increased student learning and positive connections to school as we
enter the second trimester.
Sincerely,
Mr. Gonsalves
Principal
