Special programs for gifted and talented students (GATE) at Cloverdale Elementary School are a result of a commitment to provide every student with appropriate educational opportunities.

Students are screened for GATE identification through:

• Intellectual Scores
  
• Achievement Test Scores
• Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Auditions
• Teacher Recommendation
• Parent Recommendation

Intellectual testing is done through the district by a district psychologist throughout the year. California Standards Test results are reviewed during the summer to identify eligible students academically. VAPA auditions for potential talented students are held once a year.

Identified GATE elementary students receive services in grades 3-5 through self-contained classes, cluster classes, and after school programs.
