Principal's Message

Dear Cloverdale Families:

It is time for all of us to spring into action!  Our 3rd-5th grade scholars are preparing for the Smarter Balance state testing, and our entire teaching staff has been working hard with building academic endurance for each student.  Testing will take place April 13, 2015 through May 29, 2015, so we need your help for supporting all of our scholars grades TK-5.  Please be sure that our scholars receive breakfast daily and a restful sleep nightly.  Encourage them to do their best for every task and reassure them of their academic abilities.  Spring time is also when we gear up to get your input on our site building blocks: Single Plan for Student Achievement, Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), and Restructuring Plan.  Our 2015-2016 Restructuring Plan Proposal will soon be sent out to parents as well as our Spring Parent Survey.  I invite you to attend our School Site Council and English Learners Advisory Committee meetings to learn more about how our programs and funding are being proposed for next year.

As we round out the last part of the school year, I want to ensure our school’s community remains the best we can offer the children who attend Cloverdale:

  • Thank you to our parents who have been volunteering in our classes, events and attending workshops.  Your participation makes an amazing difference to our campus!
  • Attendance is important for ALL Cloverdale students, including kindergartners and those with passing grades.  Our 2014-2015 LCAP stated to improve attendance rates, but that takes parents working with the school.  I know many of our parents are working and have other children at different schools.  If you bring your child to school, be sure they are on campus by 7:40 am.
  • Dismissal has encountered issues with flow of traffic in the parking lot and on Tuscola (rear gate), as well as parents having children to cross unsafely.  Parents, please follow the directions of the staff for moving forward to help with traffic, remain in your car, do not block vehicles, or call your child over to cross in the middle of the street.

Our scholars, staff, and parents are my priority.  I invite you to check our website for weekly and calendar of events.  Thank you for supporting our school and scholars.

All the best,

Dr. Mallanie Harris
